Scientists will spray particles into the sky to block the sun in 2019

Harvard scientists have been working there for a few years. Now they are finally ready for their experience.

They will spray the sky using high-altitude planes to block sunlight to cool the Earth and prevent global warming. (1)

In the past, it was only a conspiracy theory that the government wanted to pulverize the sky to change the weather. If you're reading about "solar geoengineering" experiments, you may have seen photos of scrambled and vaporized skies, suggesting that geoengineering is not happening right now. (2)

Harvard researchers are ready to spray the sky in 2019

Harvard researchers are preparing for their spraying experience in the early 2019 sky. They carefully select their materials. The initial plan was to use an aluminum spray, but they opted for calcium carbonate. They aim to "replicate" the cooling effect of the climate that a volcanic eruption would have on planet Earth.

The experiment is known as stratospheric controlled disturbance experiment (SCoPEx). It was announced recently in Nature magazine, explaining their plan:

"If all goes well, the Harvard team will be the first in the world to move solar geoengineering from the lab to the stratosphere, with a project called Stratospheric Controlled Disturbance Experiment (SCoPEx). The first phase - a US $ 3 million test involving two flights of an airship located 20 kilometers above the southwestern United States - could be launched in the first half of 2019. Once in place the experiment would release small feathers of calcium carbonate, about 100 grams each, which is about the amount found in a commercially available average antacid bottle. The balloon would then turn around to observe the dispersion of the particles. » (3)

What is the purpose of the experiment? Has this lasted for years?

The goal of the researchers seems to be to standardize geoengineering instead of checking how particles whiten the sun.

The question is whether we really lack information about what happens when scientists spray calcium carbonate into the sky. In fact, there is some documentation on the history of geoengineering, especially on changing the militarized climate. (4)
